I suggest adding median/quantiles, variance, and a few others from datafu as part of pig as well. They are commonly asked for and used.

Something like AliasableEvalFunc would be useful in pig I think. It definitely helps when there are many parameters passed to a UDF and it's hard to remember the positions. Although if it's being added to Pig it may make more sense as a language feature, like named parameters in some programming languages.

And nice to see the JIRA about assert spawned from my presentation :)
If possible, could we get the presentation materials uploaded somewhere?
Note that the venue is right next to VTA light rail station, and also close to caltrain station.
Romain, that sounds good, consider yourself added to the program.

I could do a short demo of a web based Pig Editor and get some feedback about how users submit Pig scripts.

Do people have presentations they'd like to give or topics they'd like to see covered at this meetup? If so, please suggest them here or send directly to me at [masked]. The guidelines are anything that is oriented around project (that is, not a marketing pitch) that you think will be of interest to the Pig community. Good examples are features you're working on adding, tools you've built to use with Pig, use cases you have, war stories of how you got Pig to do what you wanted, etc.

I could do a brief presentation of Parquet/Pig integration.

I want to know how we can leverage Hadoop/PIG and integrate into the our datawarehouse solution.
How about Spork, Pig on Tez ? Not sure what stage they are in. At least a general overview of what to expect in future out of them would be nice.

I can give an update on that too.
I would appreciate a presentation on Twitter's pig-lucene thing.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
