Minecraft Server Thread

I have taken it upon myself to run a a minecraft server for Hack Shack members and family.

Our server is "modded", which means that it runs unofficial code developed by the minecraft community. To join in the fun, you need a few things:

  • A paid-for minecraft account, available from
  • The "Feed the Beast" launcher (free), either http://www.creeperrep... (windows) or http://www.creeperrep...
/FTB2/062214a3018057abf74e6bf231d47211/launcher%5EFTB_Launcher.jar (Linux or Mac OS X)
  • Using the feed the beast launcher, select "Direwolf 20" as the modpack.
  • A "fast enough" computer to run minecraft. Generally this means a computer with more than a gig of memory and a "fast" video card (nvidia works best, but newer intel graphics cards are good enough if the settings are tweaked.)

At our weekly Tuesday workshops, we invite famlies to come and play on the server as a shared community experience. We also try to have a few computers that people can use during these meetings, but our supply of "fast enough" computers is extremely limited at the moment.

When we're not having a meeting, the Minecraft server is available (IP address subject to change),
during the meetings the minecraft server is only available on the private LAN at the shack.

Is this information still true and correct? (Assuming I can remember my user/pass)

Hi Gwen,
No, the above info is not correct, but you should be able to request a whitelisting of your minecraft account from Dylan and receive the correct login.
The minecraft server is no longer modified. Standard 1.8+ should be fine. This is a survival/non-PVP game centered around construction.
