I believe Andrew McGill mentioned an upcoming meetup of OpenPGH that would be dedicated to working on one of their projects. Does anyone know the date/time/location of this? I can't seem to find any information on it.

I'll share one more link. If last night sounded interesting and you want to explore the idea of working in a newsroom, read this. https://medium.com/@jeremybowers/why-im-a-newsroom-coder-860d9d49f684 and this: https://source.opennews.org/en-US/articles/planting-next-crop-newsroom-coders/ and consider applying for this fellowship: http://opennews.org/fellowships/apply.html

Another interesting article on data journalism: https://source.opennews.org/en-US/learning/true-facts-maybe/
I was pleased that a lot of what was discussed last night addressed these kinds of issues: transparency, providing original sources, notes on cleanup and interpretation, versioning, etc.

Fantastic pair of presentations on programming in journalism for the purpose of finding, cleaning, and presenting data. Thank you, AmyJo (and Katrina) and Andrew, for sharing what you do and how you do it!

There's a group of us going to dinner around 5:30. We don't know yet where we're doing, but I'll reply to this comment with where we're going when we decide. Meet in the third floor lobby area, I guess? That way, people can drop off their stuff.

Alberto Cairo just posted a provocative article on data journalism: http://www.niemanlab.org/2014/07/alberto-cairo-data-journalism-needs-to-up-its-own-standards/
Any comments?

Meetup has allowed me to meet people I wouldn't have met naturally - they're totally different than me.
