Django PGH: Packaging Your Apps
Details
Erik Swanson will be presenting on packing Django apps into external packages. If you're interested in Python's packaging tools or if you're interested in keeping your Django projects organized, this should be a fun presentation!
Django's concept of apps is a great way to organize your code within a project. But it's also possible to package your apps as separate libraries that are installable through pip.
We'll go through an example of packing up a Django app into a separate project. This example will highlight the basics of Python's packaging system, as well as cover some of the Django specific issues.
We'll also talk about the benefits of breaking a large project into separate projects for different apps, including reusability, ease of testing, and code cleanliness.
Location:
This meetup will be hosted at the new Revv Oakland (http://www.revvoakland.com/)location, the same location as last month. The space is right above the "FedEx Office" store, and the entrance is highlighted in this image (http://imgur.com/9k9Y8xC).
