Intro to Hadoop: Hype or Reality - you decide with Kevin Crocker

Have you been wondering what this Hadoop thing is? Look no further! Come to our Meetup to find out what it is; why it exists; what it does; and why you need it!
We will present an overview of Hadoop, the Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS), MapReduce with Hadoop, and discuss best practices for when to use and Hadoop and when to consider other options.

***Attendees of the January 14 meetup will be eligible to partake in our limited-seat workshop on January 15 where you get a personal VM to play with Hadoop. See instructions and details on the January 15 meet up site.***

Excellent presentation by an outstanding instructor. Kevin did a great job describing and defining Hadoop for a diverse group of technical professionals for both Beginner and Intermediate levels. Slides which he presented were clearly focused on the main points of the "Data Lake", and he interpreted the Future of Enterprise Data Architecture in an understandable way. The sub-projects including HDFS and Map/Reduce were given adequate detail to comprehend this Flexible, Scalable, and Inexpensive solution to organizing immense quantities of sequential data.

Sorry that you can't make it. Because of its popularity, we will work on doing another one in the future.
