Secret Caves & Hidden Beaches

Details
Explore the beauty and science of some of the Seashore’s most scenic yet least visited places. We’ll take advantage of a rare early morning negative low tide to access sea caves and beaches normally blocked by breaking waves. Hiking beneath towering cliffs and scrambling over wave-sculpted rocks, we’ll make our way past pristine tidepools and through a series of caves, arches and tunnels. Along the way we’ll discuss the geologic forces that created this unique landscape and the life forms that inhabit it. If conditions are right, we may even be able to squeeze through a keyhole into a section of normally inaccessible beach containing one of the seashore’s most impressive caves. Bring footwear that can get wet (or pack extra dry socks). Headlamp recommended but not required.
