Abstract

Application Program Interface (API)s are an integral part of a SaaS offering. This allows disparate systems to work together and stitch up a solution that allows the whole to be greater than the sum of its parts. Properly designed and well thought out APIs can be a source of customer loyalty, business enabler and added revenue. On the other hand poorly designed APIs can be costly, can increase liability and slow down growth. In this talk we will discuss how to build great APIs. We will talk about making the right choices and knowing the implications of those choices especially for REST based APIs in a SaaS environment.

Presenter: Obaidur Rachid

Obaidur Rashid (OB) has over 14 years of experience in software development. Currently, he is a Senior Director of Software Development at Oracle Corporation. OB joined Oracle as part of the acquisition of Taleo. At Oracle, he is responsible for the SMB product line namely, Taleo Business Edition and he also leads Mobile application development for all multiple product lines. Prior to Taleo, he served as the Director of Engineering responsible for all application development at StarCite. He started his career at Oracle where he eventually move to the rank of an Applications Architect. OB has a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Computer Science.
