Mainstream political agenda is presently choking any attempts for a genuine democratic mandate at the heart of governance. Rather than continuing to rely on barely perceptible margins of ideological difference and the traditional punch and judy show of our supposed parliamentary system - both dialogue and activism are needed to formulate plans for achieving a bottom-up change in politico-economic systems.
Encouraging systemic political change through the establishment of a network of London-based discussion groups is the first stage. We are creating numerous methods for people to become involved, check out for updates on the events on Twitter or RSVP boards.
Capitalism and wage labour politics, combined with iniquitous distribution of national net worth has resulted in emergence of elitist power structures, with this inequality acting as a driving component behind many of our contemporary political dilemmas. Corporations are increasingly side-lining governments into a subservient position and disrupting the democratic system. The promotion of profiteering and commercial self interest above global community interests is representative of another serious inroad restricting the possibility of non-mainstream political change.
Global democratic power vacuums have increased in last 20 years, with erosion in political accountability and government no longer representative of populations.
We are advocating a left-liberal alternative, with our primary objectives as a movement focused on reducing political and economic inequality. Political Alternative UK is planning a series of protests and public information workshops - and we require as many helpful hands as possible!
Campaigning for greater political awareness and at grassroots level building viable alternatives and active communities are the most important mechanisms for change.
Welcome to the movement!
