Port City Hackerspace

This is a group of beginners and experts alike who enjoy electronic tinkering, reverse engineering, taking things apart and voiding the warranty! I am trying to get a group of like minded people to discuss the formation of a hackerspace/makerspace in the Wilmington, NC area.

Hackerspaces (see http://hackerspaces.org) are interdisciplinary creative communities made up of hobbyists, makers, technologists, artists, teachers, and learners throughout the area.

A hackerspace is a physical location where people from different backgrounds, skill sets, and interests, can join together to collaborate on projects, share ideas, and learn from each other. Hackerspaces are member-driven, community/member-funded, 24x7 hubs of creativity, with an emphasis on stretching the limits of the way we think.

Things to Know:

- EVERYONE is welcome. No exceptions.

- Hackerspaces are "Do-ocracies" -- your input is valuable and also directly influential in the evolution of your local hackerspace.
