"Is that even JavaScript?" with Jake Ginnivan
Details
We are pumped for this month's awesome speaker!
"Is that even JavaScript?"
Let's ask Jake Ginnivan.
---------------------------------------------------------
After a 5 year siesta the JavaScript language has been woken up with a new version coming every year.
ES2015 (or ES6) was the first of these updates and what an update it was.
Block scoped variables, arrow functions, a module system and many, many more features.
In this talk Jake will show some of the best & some lesser known ES6/ES7 features.
We'll then take a look at what features are in the pipeline for ES8/9 and how the ECMA spec process works .

About the AWIA monthly meetups
Port80 is a monthly meetup for web professionals including designers, developers, sys admins, marketers, digital strategists, students... and pretty much anyone who's involved in the web.
Our monthly meetings start with casual drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and pizza (or something else). We simply ask for a small donation to cover the drinks and food if you partake.
We then have one or more presentations on a variety of topics which usually end with lots of questions and discussions... and more drinks.
Port80 meetups are held in Perth, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide by the Australian Web Industry Association (AWIA) - http://www.webindustry.asn.au (http://www.webindustry.asn.au/)
