Join Julian H. for a walk around Wapato Lake on Sauvie Island. As a fall walk, we should be seeing fall migrants. Depending on the water level, we may have waterfowl. As this is fall, be ready for adverse weather conditions. Please let me know if you need Binos. Be advised, There may not be bathroom facilities at this location.

Join Julian H. & Ron E., for a waterfowl and fall sparrow adventure on Sauvie Island. Meet at 8am at the East Side Check Station Parking Lot on the corner of Reeder and Rentenaar Roads. We will walk Rentenaar Road and back (1.6 miles round trip). Should be done by 1pm. All vehicles will need a Sauvie Island parking permit. From the Sauvie Island bridge take Sauvie Island Rd north 2 miles to the intersection with Reeder Rd. Turn right on Reeder and continue north 9 miles to the Eastside Check Station and Rentenaar Rd on the left (allow 25 minutes to drive from the bridge to the check station). Dress for the weather. Parking passes are availible online at the ODF website.

Join Julian H., at Vancouver Lake Park. Scope the lake for water birds then explore the riparian woodland for fall migrants. Meet at 8am at parking lot in front of middle bathrooms and we should be done by 11am. Directions from I-5 north: take Exit 1-D (4th Plan Blvd), go west on 4th Plain through Vancouver onto SR-501 (Lower River Rd). After 3.5 miles on SR-501, continue straight for 0.6 miles to Vancouver Lake Park. Beginners welcome. $5 parking fee required.

Visit Ankeny NWR with Julian H & Erik B. Ankeny NWR is home to thousands of geese during the winter, and there are also Acorn Woodpeckers. We will meet at the Park ‘N Ride to carpool at the Bridgeport Exit #290 at 7 a.m. Directions: south on I-5, take the Bridgeport Exit #290, then turn right (west), then turn left to the Park ‘N Ride. North on I-5, take Exit #290, turn left (west), and turn left again into the Park ‘N Ride. We will then form carpools to Ankeny. If you wish to meet us at Ankeny, Please advise us beforehand, and meet us at 8am. At Ankeny Hill Nature Center, 130 Ankeny Hill Rd SE, Jefferson, OR. 97352. Please bring a lunch. Scopes would be helpful. Let me know if you need binoculars.
