This is just a quick note to alert you to some things going on with Portland Bike Commuting Meetup.AUGUST GENERAL MEETING
As you already know, our August joint meeting with Green Streets
is coming up this Wednesday, 7 PM, at Zero Station Gallery at 222 Anderson Street off Marginal Way. We will be discussing efforts at educating both motorists and cyclists about safely sharing the road, a topic that will only become more important as more and more people experiment with using their bikes as transportation. Nancy Grant from the Bicycle Coalition of Maine, and Joan Ingram from Healthy Portland will be telling us about initiatives they have underway, and we will brainstorm what else we can do. If traffic safety is a concern to you, please come and contribute your ideas!
is appreciated.200 MEMBERS?
We are currently at 194
official members of this group. Will we pass 200 in August? September? Whenever it is, I will be putting together a little gift package for the 200th member, as I did for the 100th last fall. Tell your biking friends who aren't a member yet - sign up and get free stuff! We may now be found at the easy-to-memorize address of PortlandBikeCommuting.org
. Pass it on!FEEDBACK REQUESTED
I have put together two polls to ask what features of this group you appreciate the most, so I know where to concentrate my future efforts. There are so many features I had to split the questions into two parts, offline features
and online features
. Please take a moment to visit each of these and let me know what you think. Thanks!MESSAGE BOARD
Our message board is hopping with summer commuting experiences, discussion on traffic techniques, and a new "ice breaker
" introduction thread, for introductions or to tell us something non-cycling related about yourself that we might not know. Please check it out.
Hope everyone's having a good summer, full of bike activities. Have fun and ride safe!
