Re: [bike-132] Looking for two free bikes

Now that you've got the word out I'm sure something will pop-up in the near future that is free or next to nothing and does not need extensive repairs (it just depends on what you conception of "near" is in this context). If nothing comes up, I sell old bikes, I have rideable stuff starting at $30. A CL ad looking for cheap bikes might also be effective.

Depending on what sort of bikes you are looking for, I have two Gary Fisher entry level bikes (I think one is a Wahoo and the other a Marlin or some fishy name) that I grabbed at my local transfer station last year that have just been collecting dust at a friend's house. ?He was going to fix them up, now just wants them gone. ?Both need parts (from memory, I think one is missing a rear wheel, the other, the rear derailleur is snapped in half) but seem to be in generally good shape. ?If some one was willing to do the fix up, I would be more than happy to donate.

Decent bikes come through there now and agin and I'd be happy to keep an eye open for others.

Hi John,
I haven't any suitable bikes, but would be happy to donate whatever labor I can to a repair/refurbish project.? I might even have some spare parts that could be used.
Best,
Greg

Hi, all,

Here's a personal request. We have a friend who is a single mom of a 10-year-old boy, and she wants to get into bike riding with him, but they can't afford to buy any bikes. They might not even be able to afford the Bike Swap. Does anyone know where there might be an adult woman's bike and a pre-teen boy's bike sitting around unused, looking for a better home? I'd probably be willing to foot a repair bill if they aren't in absolutely terrible shape.

While I'm emailing you: Sunday's forecast calls for 70% chance of rain, with a high in the 40's. Doesn't that sound like a good day to carpool up to Gorham and play on a flying bicycle video game? Only one other Yes and one Maybe has RSVP'd so far. I'd like to especially urge anyone who might be interested it helping run the group (teach workshops, lead rides, etc.) to come, because ideally I was hoping it could also serve as somewhat of a planning meeting. Come on, it'll be fun! Please RSVP either way.

More actual useful meetups coming in April, and a new surprise this year is being planned for May!!

- John
