Jam Session 101 and Practice Workshop

  • October 23, 2013 · 7:00 PM
  • Bodhi's Basement Bistro

This workshop introduces participants to the skills necessary to more fully participate in a jam session or impromptu music endeavor.

As a beginner's class, this is also a reasonable environment for experienced musicians to gain some practice-time with secondary, less-familiar instruments in a group setting.

Topics of discussion include the basics of song structure and orchestration, communicating song structure to new musicians, and leading a song in a music session.

Practical instruction in playing instruments, note-taking, lead breaks, and fronting a song will be presented.

The aim of this workshop is to give individuals the skills necessary to confidently and fully participate in open jams and other musical endeavors or events.

Please Note:  There is a fee of $5 per session for this 3-hour workshop.

Wonderful. lot of fun to jamming with different instruments. Drum Ukulele clarinet, guitars. Bodhi's guide line made things easy and more enjoyable.

I have to play at my supervisor's retirement party that was postponed until the 23rd. I am not sure I will be out in time, so I declined for just this once....But if I DO get out in time, I might stop by to see if there is room for one more. Kathleen

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
