Butterfly Collage Using Magazine Papers

Details

For our October presentation Carol Mikkelson will be teaching a technique for making a realistic collage from old magazines. The subject will be butterflies as they are two dimensional and a great way to learn this process. This process can be used with just about any subject. If you want to get inspired in advance look at Carol Mikkelson's Found Paper Collage Pinterest board.

Supply List… Pencil, Scissors (1 small pair,) Old gift or credit card for spreading paste, Lots of old magazines (Carol has a bunch but bring any you may have laying around.) Old phone book or newsprint pad (Carol has old phone books, too). $3.00 supply fee for everything else.

Also if you want to start collecting magazine paper to use in advance, Carol uses pieces that have text printed on color or black. Doing this in advance will help speed up the process. This is optional though, Carol has plenty of magazines for you to go through.

Dues are a prorated $36.00 a year. Members in good standing pay only the supply fees. Drop-ins pay $5.00 plus the supply fee. Please pay dues ASAP. Our new year started in September.

This promises to be the best year ever! Just to give you a preview... Our 2nd Annual Christmas Gift Exchange will be December 7. We each bring a piece of our own work to give another member. We number the gifts (disguised in their brown paper bags) and then draw numbers that match a bag. Be thinking about what you will want to bring. We will have refreshments and a festive atmosphere! For our February meeting, we will make collages on postcards or envelopes and send them to each other! As a member, I invite you to present a demonstration for the group to learn new techniques. Please sign up! There are a lot of open months. We need your expertise!

If you have previewed any good craft books, please give a review to the group. I will be asking for them at the beginning of each meeting. See you soon. Susan Robinson
