A Special Data Science Hack Day: HackOregon Civic Data Hackathon

Hack Oregon is diving deep into local election data!
They just wrapped up a workshop at Pacific Northwest College of Design where they were program to visualize the flow of campaign money in Oregon.
To celebrate the end of term, they are hosting a hackathon and inviting the community out to come build more civic-inspired projects with the data they've collected.
Sources include ORESTAR database (campaign expenditures and contributions) voter registration database and more!
Some people are coming with their own pitches and others are looking to join a team that inspires them.
Register early on eventbrite.  Contact [masked] if you have questions about pitches or possibilities.
See you there!

I might not be able to make it, so if it's crowded please release my RSVP. I wanted to make sure I got notices and updates, though.

Hi Ed! Hack Oregon has a github, but we're actively working on getting our documentation and database ready for the event. I'm going to send an email out to our RSVP list describing more specifics. If anyone is interested in helping us prepare, email me at [masked]. Also, don't forget to register!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
