FPWW- VVM2PM- Tuesday @ 545pm

Details

Note the time and day change to Tuesdays @ 5:45pm! Please bring a headlight or flashlight just in case you are on trail longer than planned.

What is FPWW- VVM2PM you may ask? It's Forest Park, Wildwood Trail - Vietnam Veterans

Memorial to Pittock Mansion Run of course! http://img2.meetupstatic.com/7721728740974823239/img/smileys/tongue.gifFor those that have never been to Forest Park, it is a 5100+ acre urban forest reserve with lush forest with bridle, single, and double track trails which crisscross throughout the park. Forest Park is arguably the place to run trail in Portland, especially Wildwood Trail. With over 30 of the 70 miles of trail within Forest Park being on Wildwood, one can go as far as your legs can carry you.

We will meet at the parking lot near the corner of SW Knights Blvd and SW Kingston Dr, which is directly across from the Vietnam Veterans of Oregon Memorial, next to the Zoo. If the lot is full, you can go back towards to Zoo and park there.

Google maps of our route is here (https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msid=203184732763396309230.0004dfdfcbb209c684919&msa=0&ll=45.511956,-122.714088&spn=0.008052,0.018926), so please use the link as a guide.

The trail head is directly across from the parking lot with plenty of signage. We will stay on wildwood (marked on trail with a blue diamond) all the way up to Pittock Mansion. There are several vehicle road crossings, however one in particular that can be tricky is the one at Burnside Road, so please look both ways and use extreme caution whenever crossing. The route is not as hilly as others, but can be quite challenging and will be approximately 3.7 miles each way for a total of 7.4 miles. There are shortcuts that can be taken for those that want to go shorter, or trails and loops that can be added for those that want to go longer.

This will be a no-drop, however if this is your first run and new to running - this probably is not a good run to start out with. I will sweep if we have a larger group - so if you have run this route before and don't mind helping out with leading and/or making sure others don't get lost, please let me know.

As usual, if there's interest - we'll grab a bite to eat afterwards at a location TBD post run.

Please call or txt me if you are running late or need directions @ 321-209-1976

Cya on trail!
