This first edition will feature the following two talks:

Key Factors on VR Development by Miguel Bernardes

The presentation will include a description of the rehabilitation game developed, some relevant topics to consider when developing virtual reality applications, and the approaches followed by other developers.

Miguel Bernardes is 24 years old and has recently finished his M.Sc. in Informatics Engineering in the Department of Informatics Engineering of the University of Coimbra, Portugal. Currently, he is working as a researcher at the Institute for Biomedical Imaging and Life Sciences (IBILI), using virtual reality to rehabilitate individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Getting into VR by Thomas J. Papa

Attendees will learn how to get started in making experiences for virtual reality. They will learn about the various VR platforms and their differences. They gain insights into the applications of VR and the essential resources and tools available to making them.

Thomas Papa, founder of Mimicry Games, is an experienced game and VR developer who has been working with virtual reality in various game projects, ever since the first Oculus Rift shipped in 2013. He is currently working on the online multiplayer VR action game ‘Maker from Below’, of which a prototype will be playable at the event.
