The Festa Junina, festival that celebrates the Saints Anthony, Peter and John was brought to Brazil by the Portuguese and it is full of typical music, food and dance.

Saint Johns is most celebrated in the Northeast of Brazil which is an arid territory, and people uses, the opportunity, to give thanks to the Saint for the rain season.

The rural life is celebrated, and the guys, dresses up as farm boys, with braces and straw hats, and girls with pigtails, freckles and checkered dresses.

Quadrilha is a theatrical dance brought from France that tells the story of a wedding in a small town.

Because it coincides with the corn harvest a lot of the food served are made from it, such as canjica, corn cake, pamonha and sweet tapioca just to name a few. To make the party warmer on this beginning of winter in Brazil the drinks are quent?o, a mix of cooked ginger, cinnamon and cacha?a (sugar liquor) and hot wine.
