Create positive connections
with other northern Illinois families
who educate their children at home!
Our primary purpose is to support the unique intellectual, emotional and social needs of homeschooling families with gifted and twice exceptional children. We welcome people of all ages and abilities who strive for individualized, child-centered learning at home. We strive to be a truly open group… welcoming, accepting and uniting all.
All homeschooling styles are welcome. We have many members favoring various elements from Classical, Charlotte Mason, Thomas Jefferson, Waldorf, Ruth Beechick, Montessori and Unschooling methods. We each pick and choose what works for our own family at any given point in time. Many of us ultimately find our way to a relaxed, eclectic blend of child-centered learning.
This inspiring group exists exclusively due to the initiative, dedication and generosity of its active and committed members. Join us if you wish to attend member-organized field trips, cooperative learning opportunities, book discussions, seasonal parties, parent's outings, service projects, family events and more! While all members are encouraged to plan activities, none are forced to… join us to do whatever you can, whenever you can.
All homeschoolers living in northern Illinois are welcome. We currently have members from Chicago to Lake Villa and Lake Zurich, over to DeKalb and Malta down to Yorkville, Lockport and Naperville as well as everywhere in between. Please note that while field trips take place all across northern Illinois, many of our regular gatherings are currently in the Dundee, Elgin, St. Charles, Geneva, Batavia, Carol Stream and Palatine areas. This geographic area will naturally grow as members from others areas contribute their ideas, time and talents. See all of our "About" pages for more specific info and feel free to e-mail the organizer with any questions.
We very much appreciate referrals from our current members and friends, but we welcome all newcomers equally warmly. Upon clicking “Join us”, please answer a few questions to help us get to know you. Be sure to tell us in your "Intro" if you know someone who is already a member in the group, or if you were referred to us by a friend or affiliate of our group, as this will expedite admittance to our site. Otherwise, for the safety of all members of this private group, we must verify that each applicant is a real person with a genuine interest in homeschooling first. We don't like to turn away fellow homeschoolers, so please be sure to reply to our e-mail messages at your earliest opportunity in order to receive full access to the site.
