Create positive connections
with other Northern Illinois families
who educate their children at home!
Welcome to Positive Connections ! We are an inclusive and member-driven group. Our primary purpose is to GIVE HOMESCHOOLING FAMILIES A WAY TO SHARE ACTIVITIES WITH OTHER HOMESCHOOLERS. Doing fun things together gives us all more opportunities to establish meaningful connections, support each other, and build community.
This group relies on the members to schedule real-life events and activities, and build our online community. All members of Positive Connections are encouraged to think of activities to share with other homeschoolers, and to use the group calendar to invite other members to attend. Meetups can be large or small, indoors, outdoors, active, quiet, artistic, athletic, academic, or whatever anyone thinks up ! We can attend public events together, meet in public or semi-private spaces, or schedule small events in our homes. All members are also encouraged to use our group’s discussion forum to establish online connections with other members.
We welcome families with children of all school ages and abilities who strive for individualized, child-centered learning at home.We embrace diversity and respect differences. We welcome homeschoolers of all levels of experience. We welcome all homeschoolers regardless of homeschooling style/approach/method. We each use what works best for our family and children.
We welcome neurodiversity. We especially want to acknowledge the unique intellectual, emotional and social needs of homeschooling families of children with non-neurotypical styles of learning and relating, including gifted children, twice exceptional children, and those with learning and social challenges.
Homeschoolers living in all of northern Illinois are welcome. Positive Connections has members living in the following counties: Kane, DeKalb, Winnebago, McHenry, Cook, DuPage and Lake. Activities may take place in any of these areas. However, the majority of members are in areas convenient to St. Charles and Elgin. Large, group-wide holiday-oriented events or picnics will most likely be somewhere near St. Charles, as this is the most central area to the group. Centrally located meetups tend to draw the most interest, and meetups in areas that are further away tend to be smaller. There are smaller clusters of members in different areas (Rockford, DeKalb, Streamwood, Algonquin), and it is helpful when members who live near each other can contact each other and coordinate on planning some events.
Prospective Members: You are invited to join if you meet the following requirements:

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
