Modernising Money - Reading Group, London, Mon 29 July

Details

The impact of recession is affecting us all: increasing amounts of debt, jobs lost, homes repossessed and businesses fail. The hardest thing to contemplate, is a way out from all of this mess...

http://photos4.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/a/1/f/6/event_202781462.jpeg (http://www.positivemoney.org/shop/modernising-money/)The purpose of this group is to study new book "Modernising Money (http://www.positivemoney.org/2013/02/our-new-book-modernising-money-is-out-now/), Why our monetary system is broken and how it can be fixed"

This book documents - in more detail than ever before - exactly how we could fix the monetary system for the benefit of business, society, and the environment. These proposals offer one of the few hopes of escaping from our current dysfunctional monetary system. In case you didn't get a copy yet, the book can be ordered here (http://www.positivemoney.org/shop/modernising-money/).

When: Monday 29 July at 7.30pm

Where: The venue is Cafe Provencale (http://www.cafeprov.co.uk/index.html), 2-6 Half Moon Lane, Herne Hill, London, SE24 9HU (which is just round the corner from the station and bus stops).

We'll be in the back room. It's a commercial establishment with food if you want to eat, but they are happy with us not taking food as long as several of us order a drink of some variety.

Program:

We’ll be summarising and discussing Chapters 8 and 9. As last time we will each be summarising a part of the chapter for the rest of the group. Don’t worry if that sounds daunting — it’s not a test but rather just trying to help each other remember what we have read in the preceding couple of weeks, and to each have a go at explaining (to a friendly, familiar, and encouraging audience) what we’ve read.

New people are always welcome, though will have some catching up to do on the reading.

The book is now available (http://www.positivemoney.org/shop/modernising-money/) directly from Positive Money in case you lack a copy.

From Croydon 468 bus takes 47 mins to Herne Hill.

From Sutton there's a direct train to Herne Hill takes 23 mins.

From North London, the First Capital Connect service and trains from Victoria run directly to Herne Hill.

Please do get in touch with any questions or concerns here in comments or via email: positivemoneylambeth@gmail.com
