The November meeting will be around the topic of financial deregulation since 1971. The issues we will cover include:

• Historical context: The Thatcher-Reagan years – what was deregulated and why.

• The development of “sub-prime” lending and securitisation, leading up to the 2008 crash.

• Speculation markets on commodities, currencies and food.

• The relevance for Positive Money arguments.

There will be short presentations and videos followed by discussion. Old and new group members are welcome! Bring a friend or a colleague!

Please note we are meeting in Cafe Z Bar instead of our usual venue.
