4th Positive Money Sheffield Meetup, Mon 27 Feb

You are invited to the next Positive Money SHEFFIELD MEETUP on Monday February 27th.

Following on from Alan’s talk last month, Mike Black (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8oJG0janREg&feature=player_embedded) will this month dig a bit deeper into the workings of banking to give us an insight into ‘base money’ (Bank of England money) and how it is used as reserves by commercial banks. Mike will also tell us a bit about his involvement with Positive Money (http://www.positivemoney.org.uk/) and the James Stuart Gibb Trust (http://www.jgstrust.org.uk/).

We will also update you on some of the campaigning activities we discussed previously eg. speaker training (http://www.positivemoney.org.uk/take-action/positive-money-speaker/), new materials available, lobbying our MPs etc.

We will follow this up with a facilitated discussion on topics of your choice! This will give us time to explore some of the issues which sometimes get raised at our meetings, but which we often skip over due to lack of time (or expertise). Let’s find out what we really know between us, and what we don’t know.

At the Quaker Meeting House (http://www.sheffieldquakers.org.uk/room-hire), 10 St James Street, S1 2EW

Monday February 27th at 6:45 pm

The venue is very central - St James St. leads off the western side of the Cathedral forecourt. There is ample street parking around Campo Lane and Hawley St, free after 6:30pm.

Program:

6:45 to 7:00 - meet other supporters for an informal chat, upstairs in the social area adjoining room 1

7:00 – meeting starts in room 1

7:45-8:00 break for tea/coffee/biscuits

9:00 at the latest – finish. For those who want, the discussion will continue in the Dog and Partridge!

Cost

We ask for a donation of £3 to cover the cost of the room, and there is a charge of £1 for the tea/coffee/biscuits
