Doors open at 6:15 pm
The evenings entertainment will now begin at 6:45 pm to accommodate an exciting addition to the nights itinerary - Lawrence Dimarco will premiere his film short 'Cultural Noise'
Cultural Noise was created in answer to the call from Transition Toronto to show this city in 2030. The 15 minute film piece explores a change in consciousness, with Toronto as a post-carbon economy.
This will be followed by the screening of 'How to Boil a Frog' and a Q & A with the film maker Jon Cooksey.
HTBAF does an excellent job of squaring that most important of circles. I.e. Finding some light in the deepening gloom. In his first enviro doc Cooksey dives head first into the very deep end. Taking on resource depletion, the multiple looming environmental catastrophes and the seeming unwillingness of those charged with the levers to do any pulling in the necessary direction.
As a writers Jon and his partner Ali have won Humanitas, Gemini and Cable Ace awards, and been nominated for a prime-time Emmy. “The Collector” has also won a Leo Award for Best Series, and was nominated for Best Series at the Monte Carlo International Film & TV Festival, based on its success overseas.
