A community drum circle brings people together. We drum for pleasure, to celebrate, to heal ourselves and to express our creativity in a non-verbal way.  The great thing about drum circles is that they are all inclusive.  You do not have to be a musician to be part of a drum circle.  Beginners can tap out simple rhythms on their drums or they can play small percussion instruments like shakers and claves.

Some people come to the circle and meditate.  Some people begin chants or sing song lyrics while we drum.  Dancers show up from time to time too.  Sometimes people circle the perimeter of the group and play their instruments.  The circle is always different and I can never predict what will happen. 

The drum circle isn't only about drumming.  Someone who comes out regularly to our drum circles once told me that she didn't really care too much for drumming but she really likes our breaks.  She loves talking to people and for her, the best part of the drum circle is when the drums don't beat and she can meet new friends.  I'm glad she comes out and has fun.
