Our route starts at the Miami Golf Club and follows an abandoned rail line as it snakes up a very picturesque section of Manitoba Escarpment.

Hiking the Escarpment is something Prairie Pathfinders always find quite thrilling. In our opinion, it is Manitoba's most important and distinctive land form. And once you reach the top, you have to love that classic panoramic view of a checkerboard of farmland below.

Add to this blissful scenery the advantages to hiking a rail line. For one, we won't be contending with vehicular traffic and secondly, we'll have a nice gentle assent up this steep slope.

event fee - Club members* pay $5. / Non-club members pay $15.(Event fees will be collected at the beginning of the event)

After the hike, we'll enjoy a traditional fall supper at the community hall. That means turkey with all the trimmings and home made desserts. The supper starts at 5 pm and costs $12. (cash only / pay at the door)

some suggestions -

• Be sure to bring some water for the trail

• You might like to come early to explore the town and maybe have a picnic before the hike. Miami has lovely picnic grounds in the middle of town.

Miami has been described as the museum capital of Canada. With a population of 500 it has two museums - the Railway Station Museum (one of the oldest stations in MB and a National Historic site) and a Pioneer Museum that does a good job of bringing the history of the area to life.
