This group is all about getting great foundation training which translates to a well mannered family dog as well as to ANY dog sport.
Most newcomers to the sport just want to see their dog run around the agility ring and don't understand all the behind the scenes training that it takes to do it right. It looks so easy when you watch those that do it so well.
Folks come into agility because it looks like fun, they want to "do" something with their dog, their dog "can jump really high" and is so agile. Reality check.... it takes more than just natural athletic ability to make a good agility team.
In this class we concentrate on foundation training using positive reinforcement marked with a clicker.
Things that we will cover are a rock solid "recall" with your dog, a sit or down stay(your dog will "understand their release word"), impulse control, proper jump training, and a dog that is eager to work/"play" with you. When you are ready, you will move on to table work, 2 x 2 weaves, and individual (by dog) contact work. We will start slow an then add distractions to make understanding in your dog very solid.
This will be ORIENTATION for all new members and it is the FIRST class in the series.
This will be an actual CLASS and you will be paying for 4 or 8 sessions. I will have the class agenda so you can see what we will be covering during the classes. You can pick and choose which class you would like to attend depending on your ability. I will explain it more fully during the orientation. Read more
