Join the Secular Freethinkers of Sedona and the Verde Valley in Sedona as they host Dr. Darrel Ray, author of The God Virus: How Religion Infects Our Lives and Culture (2009) and Sex and God: How Religion Distorts Sexuality (2012).  Event is FREE and open to the public.

Have you ever wondered why a religious person can be so objective in seeing the faults and problems in other religions, but cannot see the same problems in their own? Why do people seem to lose their logical ability when discussing their religion, yet maintain rational ability in other areas of life?

These questions will be discussed by Darrel Ray with a cogent and objective analysis. Dr. Ray traces the contagion of religion as it enters the lives of countless individuals, beginning in childhood and infecting virtually every aspect of living. “The God Virus” carefully details the practical consequences of religious beliefs, infecting personalities, families, and cultures. In his talk he will explore various methods religions use to infect and maintain infection within a particular religion.

Event starts at 11 am.  Following the program, we will gather in the Lounge for informal conversation and refreshments. Dr. Ray will have his book for sale. For further information:[masked]

Great speaker, he uses his background in a great presentation. I thought his psychology and examination of how religion works was fascinating.

I definitely want to go. Any chance on a carpool from or meeting me in PV? Happy to split the cost of gas.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
