How did you find Primal Living STL and what part of St. Louis do you live?

The lovely men behind the meat counter at Whole Foods referred me to the group when they saw a lost and confused paleo newbie browsing through the selection :) I live in the Central West End

What got you interested in the Paleo/Primal diet? How long since you adopted this lifestyle

I have been some form of vegetarian for 13 years, and a vegan for the past 2. Just a couple weeks ago I found out I've been reacting to the grains/legumes that were such staples in my diet... and that meat and eggs were actually listed as my body's most tolerant foods. Within a couple days of trying paleo, I began to feel like an entirely new person. I support the paleo mindset of sustainability and healing through whole food, which carries over from my vegetarian roots.. and the added energy, strength, and mental clarity is just icing on the cake!

What would you like to see us do at the meetups ?

Since I have no prior experience cooking with meat, I would love to discuss recipes as well as hear any other suggestions for easing into this lifestyle. I am very excited to meet people with the same active lifestyle as me who are equally compassionate about giving back to the community, and would love to take part in any events/outings that the group may offer.

What issues do you have with the paleo/primal lifestyle?

Being a busy grad student, my biggest concern (and that of any other American) is time for creating quick, simple meals without getting bored. There is also the social aspect and finding like-minded people who share the same outlook on nutrition and physical activity.

What is the next step you would like to take to live more primally?

I think it would be great to get more involved in the community and learn more about the source and process of growing local organic produce in the St. Louis area.

Grad student studying occupational therapy at Wash U. Also a yogi, leisurely runner, medical interpreter, and very much an early bird
