MongoDB: The Document Based NoSQL database Over the past couple of years there has been a Buzz about NoSQL. NoSQL is just a buzzword for several trends in new databases that are not based on the tried and proven Relational Database paradigm. One category of NoSQL is the document based database database, and a leader of that space is MongoDB.

Justin Dearing (@Zippy1981) is one of the MongoDB Masters recognized for his contributions to the MongoDB Community, He is been working in the IT world for over a decade at various companies on the operations and development side of the house. These days Justin's focus is on PowerShell, C#, PHP, MongoDB and Microsoft SQLServer. He writes about his work and technologies that keeps him awake at nights at his blog. In addition to afflicting the world with apps that use MongoDB, he has contributed to the core server and the official .NET driver. He will explain what MongoDB is, and talk about what technologies can be integrated with it. He will also talk about good and bad use cases for MongoDb.

Chris, Venu, Justin - it was really nice meeting you all. I found the MongoDB presentation very interesting. Thanks again for giving me the opportunity to mention http://www.iqtell.com We have exciting opportunities for talented Java / JavaScript developers. Hoping that this forum and similar can help spread the word. Thanks again!

Very good presentation and a great group. It was unlucky that the most technical presentation to-date coincided with the drumming outside the library.

    July 25, 2012

  • Robert S.

Another great meeting (even with the drum beat form outside :) )!

Was great to see so many people out for the meetup. Topic was a bit over my head but I knew that was probably going to be the case once I saw what the topic was going to be. But, having never attended a Princeton Tech Meetup, I decided to attend any way. Although this one wasn't particularly helpful for me personally I'm still glad I came out. I'll be back!

An excellent meetup and after hours networking event. The presentation on MongoDB was equally good, although I suspect it was difficult to address the needs of a diverse community such as ours in a single presentation.

Great speaker @zippy1981 on #MongoDB, great Q/A session for the audience #PrincetonTM

This was the fourth meetup we've had at the Princeton Library, and we never had any major noise interference before tonight. I agree, the drummers were loud, but I think it was just bad luck and timing and I wouldn't expect it to happen again. Sorry to hear that it led to an early exit for you.

I wound like to have stayed until the end of Justin's presentation but the noise pollution (some might call it music but I don't) from just outside made concentration impossible. Not a great venue.

@Peter Wolanin....interesting concept...very similar to nationbuilder who just raised 14 million in March....all I can say is i think this is potentially bigger and exportable.....

    July 24, 2012

  • Peter W.

@Wil LeBlanc - what do you think you can build that would go beyond existing providers? e.g. http://www.ngpvan.com/ ? Princeton company http://digitalfireflymarketing.... already has been doing some political sites too.

    July 24, 2012

  • Wil L.

Working on a political Web Platform with no technical expertise whatsoever. Need developer/Programmer to take this startup to the next level. So far $46 million spent by the Presidential candidates alone on political websites. This can be a lucrative journey for the right techie with a vision if we can make this vision come true.

Just to provide a suggestion/add to the interest in finding tech co-founders, there's a Princeton-based meetup specifically for that purpose - Meetup is August 7 at the Library - Check it out if you'd like - http://www.meetup.com/princeton...

    July 20, 2012

  • craig r.

chris--i am in same situation, but we have been through beta and launch early september--would love ti discuss with you offline

    July 20, 2012

  • Chris B.

Should we establish a hootboard for Princeton Tech Meetup and invite members to use it? We could be one of your beta groups.

    July 20, 2012

  • Satyajeet S.

@Venu @Bill - Open to both ideas. Timing is important for us. Will love to talk about it offline. We are in private beta so demo should not be a problem and we are going through user trials and related changes currently, but more user groups are absolutely invited. Interested? Please signup for private beta invites at http://invite.hootboard.com

    Craig and Satyajeet,
Have you considered a short demo at the meetup to
demonstrate what it is, attract co-founders, get
additional early users (promoters) and obtain
    feedback etc.?
