More details about the companies Presenting:

Sparkrelief:

What We Do

We simplify the disaster relief process by creating a centralized location for posting and finding disaster relief information.

Simplified Processes

Leveraging new ways to better organize information simplifies otherwise complex disaster relief processes, empowering existing disaster relief organizations to be more effective as well as enabling new actors to efficiently contribute needed resources.

Resource Matching

We are creating a unified place for all resource offers and requests. A resource is anything from food to housing, transportation, medical aid, money, or time. If a user doesn't find a match, they can post their own resource offer or request and be notified when a match is available.

Universal Access

People use Sparkrelief through a website, tablet app, mobile app, or mobile website. When users are without a computer, they simply call, text, or email and volunteer coordinators respond immediately with the information the user needs. Maybe one day we will use ham radios and smoke signals too.

NickelBus:

NickelBus is creating a revolution in the inter-city bus travel industry. We are a web-based service that compares thousands of routes and prices to provide users with inter-city bus travel solutions between any two points in the nation. Consider our company to be like the Kayak, Priceline, or Expedia for busses. Choose your destination, and NickelBus will show you a cost-effective way to get there and allow you to book your trip with ease. Founders Nick and Ralph are bus-travel enthusiasts and recent graduates from Stevens Institute of Technology, located in Hoboken, NJ. Each has a track record of perseverance in various positions and projects, including website design, programming, app design, and software algorithms for an electric car. They have many hours of work experience together, and they are excited to be building NickelBus, Inc.

Essay Safe:

EssaySafe allows students to take exams on their own laptops without being able to cheat. As undergraduate juniors from UPenn & Penn State, we just aren't used to writing things by hand anymore - it's slow, messy, inconvenient, and sometimes physically painful. Professors and TAs are even more frustrated with this outdated mode of exams - we've spoken with numerous professors who have become so fed up with our handwriting that they've been forced to alter their curriculums in a manner that replaces in-class exams with take-home ones, making cheating prevention even more difficult.

EssaySafe addresses these issues with two core innovations:

The first is our integration of the already widely-used Google Docs user interface, which minimizes behavioral change barriers related to technology adoption.

The second is our proprietary cheating prevention system, which records screenshots throughout the exam and notifies professors upon detection of suspicious cheating activities.
