In Hollywood's hey day, new writers and new actors stood on the same set. Writers learned what actors needed to make a character playable and a story riveting, actors had direct insight into and input into how characters and stories were developed.
These days many screenwriters have never set foot on a stage and their scripts show it. Many actors have never learned how to work with writers, writer/directors or writer/producers so they don't know how to ask for information they need to make a character playable, or how to suggest changes that will really improve a project.
Block busters are getting ever harder to produce, low-budget independent films keep winning awards, production teams are getting smaller all the time. There are great opportunities for writers and actors that know how to collaborate effectively.
This meet up will put writers and actors together in a workshop environment. Writers will provide scenes, actors will have a chance to rehearse and perform those scenes. When mutually agreed, performances may be recorded to create clips for both actor and writer portfolios.
This is a great Meetup for screenwriters, actors, writer/directors, writer/producers and actor/producers. In addition to the skills you build, you'll make long term professional relationships that will last a lifetime.
