We have all read the book and we all know the rules: hypothesis, MVP, A/B test, analysis, iteration. Some products lend themselves for incremental improvements and fast iteration and validation, others don’t. What techniques does Skyscanner use to apply lean at scale, learning from millions of users? How do you combine real customer feedback as opposed to the one-side view of what the metrics tell you – after all, the data you get is in response to the product you build.

Filip Filipov

Director, Product at Skyscanner

Filip is Director of Product at Skyscanner, where he leads a range of teams focusing on the supplier side of the marketplace. Filip also leads a division of 40 employees from Sofia, where he set up a satellite engineering hub in 2014; his wider team are spread across the Edinburgh, Glasgow, Miami and Singapore offices.

Filip joined Skyscanner in 2013 as a strategist in the Edinburgh office. He started and scaled the affiliate marketing business for the company before moving on to lead his current team. Previously, Filip held a variety of senior management positions in a wide range of industries and areas, including Travel Capitalist Ventures where he was responsible for evaluating start-up opportunities in the travel industry and Everbread Limited, where he was Deputy COO of the business’s airfare pricing engine. He has also held roles within business strategy and supply chain management in both New York and London. He is a regular keynote speaker at international travel and technology events, having spoken previously at Phocuswright and Web in Travel, amongst others.

Filip holds a BA in Government (honors) from Harvard University and an MBA from INSEAD.
