January ProductTank

ProductTank January is all about Product Management in Payments.

We are kicking off the new year back in the heart of Shoreditch, at Central Foundation Boy's School on Cowper Street, right next to Old Street tube station.

Yuval Samet | Chief Product Officer at Klarna

Yuval Samet serves as the Chief Product Officer at Klarna, where he leads a group of 25 Product Managers and Product Designers, who are busy reinventing the way people pay online and fixing broken checkout experiences. He'll talk about his experience managing products at Klarna, a high growth company trying to become the innovative global force in a domain ruled by dominant giants.

Andy Young | UK, Stripe

Andy will talk about product as a competitive advantage, and will share how Stripe's relentless focus on product has led to processing billions of dollars per year for thousands of companies of all sizes, less than 3 years after launch and with the company still yet to build an outbound sales team. He works on UK things at Stripe, the best way to accept card payments on websites and in mobile apps. An engineer at heart, Andy started out creating his own games on a ZX Spectrum. Previously he co-founded GroupSpaces and grew it to help thousands of group leaders manage 5 million memberships, raising $2.5m investment along the way. Andy's Selective Tweets app has been used by over 1 million people.

Interesting speakers as always but would prefer the balance to be more 20% - "Here's why my company is awesome" and 80% - "Here are some useful product insights and techniques" Last night felt like the other way round to me.

Hey guys! I highly recommend you to post questions in the events' comments before the meetup, it would have been very helpful towards the talk! I would love to share some specific insights and techniques if you have any question.

My first ProductTank and looking forward to the next one. It was well put together and the topics/speakers were relevant for any product manager.

Good talks and interesting insights into how product functions inside two different companies. Love the use of prototypes as specifications at klarna.

Just to make a change from the prevaling meme... I CAN make it. I would like some reactions to an idea that I am working that extends user stories to Video User Stories. Extends the intensity of the user story, and you end up a video for the customer/user to learn from/admire. Good or bad, tell me what you think!

Let's bring some positive news: after missing most of it last time, this time I'll be there. Especially interested to hear about paying with the mobile (so also open to network about that). See you all very soon!
