ProductTank June

This month ProductTank is on roadmapping, prioritisation and portfolio management.

Speakers this month are:

Lee Wilkinson, Director of Product at Hearst Magazine

Lee will be exploring how product portfolio management is much like investment portfolio management with some tips on how to effectively manager a portfolio of products.

Lee Wilkinson is the Director of Product and Strategy at Hearst Magazine. Long time product manager with 15 years experience in the digital media industry, Lee has been navigating the waters of bringing a broad portfolio of disparate products into alignment.

Michelle You, Co-founder and Chief Product Officer of Songkick

Michelle will explore how you can make the tradeoffs to effectively prioritise improvements and changes to your products.

Michelle You is co-founder and Chief Product Officer of Songkick. Michelle started Songkick with 2 co-founders to solve the problem of knowing when your favourite bands where playing live in your town. Michelle is one of the early ProductTankers from way back in 2010.

Janna Bastow, Co-founder ProdPad

Janna will be looking at ways to effectively utilize your roadmap for communicating direction of your products.

Janna co-founded ProdPad and Mind The Product. Long time product fanatic, Janna's focus has been on the user and effectively communicating product direction using roadmaps.

ProductTank is kindly sponsored by Sky

Sorry for not knowing this, but do the slides / videos get posted here or somewhere else? Also, when do they normally become available?

    June 24, 2014

    • Joshua W.

Anyone able to respond to my initial question though? :) -- still can't find the material anywhere

      June 25, 2014

sorry for previous comment, just saw meetup hid the initial replies lol -- didn't see the actual answers :)

Great ProductTank - All great speakers and presentations. Michelle's take on prioritisation was the most relevant and practical for me. Look forward to the next one.

I absolutely enjoyed this month's talk, Michelle's take on a validated data driven approach to prioritisation hits the nail in the coffin! Thanks again ProductTank, I will no doubt find ways to implement my learnings.

Useful, would love for some of the networking to be a bit more structured for those new to networking.

Interesting content as always, I'm glad to hear that everyone has the same challenges in managing a roadmap as I do.

Very useful, insightful content supported by memorable examples delivered by successful PMs. Look forward to trying out some suggestions and the next meetup. Well done Product Tank team.

The event as a whole was excellent. Each of the speakers were insightful in their own right. I particularly enjoyed hearing Michelle's take on prioritisation: The empirical, data-driven approach she employs to drive the ideation process is one that I will seek to implement in my own product development process. I was also fascinated by Lee's recommendation to map out service lines when establishing a roadmap for the product portfolio to support capacity building.

Great mix of talks on a really useful topic that I'm sure a lot of people found immensely valuable.

  • Laura M.

Do the events get streamed at all? Seems they're generally oversubscribed.

    June 17, 2014

    • James M.

@joost smart thinking! We usually start the exodus at 930, the hall has to be cleared by 10pm. We had to the Angel on City Road, right by Old St and would welcome extras!

      June 23, 2014

    • Dave N.

James - sure, I'm always happy to help, but I won't arrive until about 7 tonight, so whoever is ticking off names simply needs to keep a counter/tally, so that you know how many spare seats there should be at any given time.

Joost - as I say, there's no reason for anyone to get frustrated about not getting on the list, because there are always spare seats on the night! :-)

RSVPs are now down to 301!

      June 23, 2014

  • Marie L.

Had to change my RSVP last minute, I'm sorry I hate to do that (and I was very interested in this one too!), hope someone else from waiting list can attend!
