An expansion of the Healthcare NOTWarfare campaign, BBLVs take place at the district offices of Congress members every third Wednesday to remind our representatives and the larger community of the effects on domestic issues of uncontrolled and wasteful military spending.

This month we will be working with our close friends at the National Nurses United to collect and deliver signed postcards in support of the a Financial Transaction Tax. More details will be unveiled in the coming weeks!

The FTT (Financial Transaction Tax) - a Wall Street Tax to Heal America

The United States is hurting. Large banks and other Wall Street firms raided our economy, leaving millions of Americans to suffer. Today, families are homeless. Sick people can’t afford medical care. College students are drowning in debt before graduation.

Millions of the unemployed can’t find jobs, and many have given up. It’s why people are taken to the streets in the Occupy movement in cities across the country. We have a simple idea that can help: Add a sales tax on Wall Street trades of stocks, dividends and other financial transactions. It’s like the sale tax you pay when buying a pair of shoes.

National Nurses United is proposing a small tax of 50 cents on every $100 of Wall Street trades and other transactions. That’s a tax of one-half of one percent but it adds up to big money — up to $350 billion a year.
