Welcome fellow counselors and psychotherapists. This group is open to students, counseling interns, and seasoned counselors and psychotherapists in the North Texas area. We meet once a month at a cafe or restaurant (TBD monthly) in the Dallas-Forth Worth area to network, ask and answer counseling related questions, and find the necessary support in becoming the best counselors and psychotherapists we can be!

Please take a moment and introduce yourself after joining the group.

See you at our upcoming meet-up!

RULES OF THE GROUP

Who can join CPNNT?

Counseling/psychotherapy students, interns, and professionals in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.

Who should not join CPNNT?

Anyone who is not associated in any way with the field of mental health counseling !

What is the "No Lurkers Rule"?

  • All new members have 60 days from the time they join to attend a MEETUP. This is so we know who is in our group!
  • If you have not made it to an event within 60 days of joining our group, you'll be removed. You can always rejoin at a later time when you can be an active participant.
  • If you've come to an official event and met the Organizers, you may attend any and all events as they fit your schedule and needs.

What can I expect/not expect at a event?

  • You can expect to meet, network, and socialize with people who share a common interest in counseling. Feel free to bring a list of questions and –as a group- we will work to help you find the answers you need.
  • Our group meets in the D/FW area.
  • Your organizers will try to vary the locations so everyone can attend.
  • Nobody will do your homework! If you need help with references and overall suggestions that’s fine, but please don’t present the group with a topic and expect others to do the work for you; it’s disrespectful and you won’t learn anything in the end.
  • Please no chatting about politics, religion, or sports. This is a counseling group and while we are trying to keep it informal, we would hate it to see people in the group fighting.

Administrative rules

  • Please only RSVP "yes" for events if you are sure you can attend. A "yes" RSVP should be treated like any other commitment you would make. It is very disappointing to attend an event that had 12 "yes" RSVP's only to see a few actually show up! So as a courtesy for the rest of the group, please change your RSVP with at least 24 hours notice if possible.
  • Some events do not allow for a Maybe RSVP, so please only say Yes if you're committed to attending.
  • Also, occasionally events will have a maximum allowable # of attendees, so please don't take up spots unless you will be at the function.
  • Please make sure not to provide any personal information on this site (phone number, address, etc.) This is for your protection. Additionally, our Facebook and Meetup pages do require the Organizers to approve a person for membership before they can view any information.

What if I have a suggestion for a meetup?

  • We're happy to take suggestions; Send us an email and let us know what you have in mind; we will research the place and if all looks good (location, prices, etc) we’ll go for it!

What are group ratings?

After each event, you are sent an email to tell the organizer what you thought. Those ratings are tallied and from your response comes our group ratings!

You can also check the ratings for a particular event by clicking on past events, and clicking on the event you are interested in. There you can read what others thought of the event, and what sort of rating it got.

Please note that when you rate an event it will affect our general group score. Even a neutral rating will bring down our group average, so please rate accordingly.

Is there a fee to join this group?

The first 6 months of this group’s existence are free. Afterwards, we will ask for a bi-annual contribution of $5 per person. The $5 will go towards paying for the meet-up site and some of the logistics such as paper, ink, sticker name-tags, etc.

Can I advertise on the message boards?

At this time we are only allowing active members to advertise on the message boards. You must have attended at least 2 meetups in the past 90 days to advertise.

No lewd content, or spamming will be allowed ever.

We are so happy to have you join us! Welcome to the group!

Diana C. Pitaru and Stephanie A. Adams
