We love making DIY style open hardware tools and then going out and using them! You'll often find us in canoes or kayaks toting a large red balloon or kite. This about sums us up: http://xkcd.com/268/.

More formally though...

The Public Laboratory for Open Technology and Science (Public Lab.org) is a community which develops and applies open-source tools to environmental exploration and investigation. By democratizing inexpensive and accessible "Do-It-Yourself" techniques, Public Lab creates a collaborative network of practitioners who actively re-imagine the human relationship with the environment.

Public Lab has an active presence in the Gulf Coast region, we hold our annual conference (or "barnraising" as we call it) in Cocodrie, LA every fall and host gatherings and kite/balloon flying meetups in New Orleans. To learn more, join the Gulf Coast Public Lab Google Group: https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups..., check out a video on Public Lab shot in Louisiana: http://publiclab.org/notes/scaramel/6-13-20... or browse our website: http://publiclab.org/wiki/gulf-coast

Henry

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
