Herbal Plant Hike

Join one of our local naturalist as they lead a walk through riparian and chaparral habitats lush with native and hardy herbs mixed with a few non-natives, stopping often to identify wild plants and discuss their many uses. Get to know local edible and medicinal plants. This will be a easy-paced hike of about 2.8 miles round trip on a mostly level trail. It is suitable for hikers of all levels of ability. Dogs Ok.

Today's herbal plant hike was great! I took my sister and mom and they really had a good time. My mom is a lover of plants and nature that I had to often remind her not to go to far off the path...she was just tickled! Thank you Dennis and Terry for all your attention and knowledge. Also, Teri, I hope you found your keys!

Question...my kids flight info was changed, will need to leave hike early...don't want to be rude to naturalist...is the trail easy to exit in case I need to slide away earlier than ending time?

Yes, there is a sign and the black ornate gate is easy to spot.

    March 12, 2013

    • Habitat A.

No, just learn about the herbal plants and their uses.

I ride a motorcycle, but have no storage for riding gear. Can I store my helmet, jacket, etc. in somebody's car for the duration of the hike?

Silly question but where exactly do we meet? Will it be obvious once we drive to that address? I'm a newbie to meet ups. :-)

The Puente Hills Preserve does not allow herb or plant collecting. So that topic will not be covered. However El Dorado nature center in Long Beach does have herbal hikes that do :)
