"Nothing in this world is as powerful as an idea whose time has come." – Victor HugoOur original members were part of "18 Million Voices", one of many grassroots groups of disenfranchised Hillary Clinton voters that spontaneously formed after the June 2008 Democratic Primary (s)election. In response to what we saw were terrible wrongs in our media and political institutions, we organized nationwide marches in support of Senator Clinton during the Democratic Convention in Denver. Our primary purposes at the time were to celebrate Hillary's historic achievements in light of the 88th Anniversary of Women's Suffrage, and to insure that she was given an honest roll call vote on the Convention floor. Over time, our concerns have evolved beyond Hillary's candidacy to focus on preserving our democratic Constitutional republic in a non-partisan way.
MISSION STATEMENT: This website – along with our "storefront" blog at
WordPress.com – are hubs where we can share ideas, organize, and take actions to help our country become the democratic republic it was meant to be. Our guides are the
U.S. Constitution and the
Bill of Rights. We advocate for the moral use of power and the expression of our deepest truths without fear in this polarized political environment – or even in spite of it. We pledge to trust ourselves, to educate each other, and to help awaken our fellow citizens to the current threats aimed at our democratic institutions. We're here for the long haul.
OUR GOALS: The 2008 election process has compelled us to address three glaring problems:
Women's Rights- Women's Rights ARE Human Rights; we'll work to eliminate sexist bias and misogyny in our media, government, and public institutions,
- Elect more women into public office,
- Respect all persons, regardless of gender, race, age, religion, socio-economic status, disability, or sexual orientation.
Media Reform- Challenge media to report news in a neutral, unbiased way to help citizens make informed choices, instead of keeping the people ignorant or selfishly manipulating public opinion,
- Hold media professionals accountable for their words and actions, insure that they're aware of human rights, and change the way they cover the news,
- Create and enforce laws limiting how many media companies one individual can own, and make these companies adhere to FCC rules.
Political Reform- Advocate for fair and honest candidates in a transparent system of public accountability. This means one person, one honest vote,
- Insist on our right to elect the candidate of our choice,
- Insist on transparent Party rules, documentation, and fairness in the election process,
- Understand the core causes of the dysfunctionality in our social, economic, political, and governmental institutions,
- Encourage political parties, schools, and media to take responsibility for educating citizens about their vital role in a healthy democracy.
OUR ALLIANCES- JustSayNoDeal.com A coalition of hundreds of grassroots websites that are also working to save our Constitutional republic by transforming its morally-bankrupt institutions.
- W.A.M: Wake Up America An all-volunteer, non-partisan grassroots movement to reform our government....[Their] mission is to outreach, inform and empower voters, on a local level, about how "We the People" can influence reforms in our national leadership to resolve issues of concern to most Americans.
