Trip to Naneghat and Chawand Fort on Sunday 21st Feb 2016

Hi Friends,

We are going for a one day trip to Naneghat and Chawand Fort near Junnar on Sunday 21st February 2016.

Attractions

Naneghat is a mountain pass (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mountain_pass) in the Western Ghats (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Western_Ghats) range near Junnar (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Junnar) in Pune district (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pune_district) . During the reign of the Satavahana (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satavahana) (200 BCE–190 CE), the pass was extensively used as a trade route (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trade_route) between Kalyan (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kalyan,_India) and Junnar.

The ancient carvings, which are seen on the walls of the cave, remind us of the Satvaahan period. Here we find inscriptions in Brahmi script all over the cave.

Nanacha Angtha is the highest point at Naneghat which gives awesome view of Jivdhan Killa and Dhakoba.

Programme Schedule

• Starting from FC Road from Main Gate of Ferguson College at 7 am. By hired Mini Bus

• Breakfast on the Way

• Visit to the Historic Chawand Fort

• Lunch near Naneghat

• Visit to Nanacha Angatha

• Starting for pune at around 6.30 p.m., evening Tea on the way

• Reaching to Pune at around 9.30 p.m. (depending upon traffic condition)

Things to Carry

• One liter drinking water bottle per head,

• Cap, Some dry food like chocolate, chivada etc.for cheuing ,

• Something for protection from rain in case(such possibility is very rare in these days),

• Wear Shoos (Chappals , Sandals are not advised),

• Personal medicine if any,

• Id proof

Contribution

Contribution is Rs. 1300 per head which includes

• transport from pune to pune,

• Break fast, Lunch, Evening Tea, and Expertise.
