Ahoy! Sailing on the Swan. (Ye landlubbers welcome)

Time changes from 9h30 to 12h00 as they are not opened that early. Also allows me to procure food supply for the week in the morning or I will have to resort to piracy (any excuse to bring a jolly rogers)...

Bring some non perishable food (pirate food?) and drinks along for a picnic afterwards. There should be BBQ but will probably be packed by the time we get back to solid ground.

Fancy a sail on the Swan? Funcats offers Catamaran Hire and will provide use with some tuition before we set sail!

Those adventurous few, happy to sail off on their own, can race down the Swan while the rest of us shy folks can engage in some friendly team competition!

Life Jackets are available to the not so confident swimmers(like myself) and no sailing experience is needed.

check out funcats.com.au for further details. I'll be contacting the company tomorrow and getting an idea on hire prices.

Really nothing like I expected. Was great. As soon as we were on the water, all fears of drowning just vanished (might also have to do with having Iron calves on the team)

I have just phoned them, they are not open at 9 30 (opens 11ish) I am planning to change the meet up time to 12:00, when I get to a home computer, so it is a little warmer in case we get a bit of water splashing :)

This sounds like a tonne of fun! although i am a poor swimmer, i am happy to consider participating if others are sharing a catamaran.

Yip, there be a bloke with a boat to get you outta trouble. The biggest trouble you will likely be in is getting stuck because you dunno how to turn the sail around (listening to the instruction before start will prevent that)

      1 · April 21, 2013

    • Mishael P.

Im all for sailing with someone! If im stuck at least I'll be in some good company! :-p

Never done this before but am willing to give it a go! Should be a laugh :D

Hi Mishael, here's the detail: Costs about $40 a boat (I think it is $37) for an hour, which seats up to 3 people each. One could do it solo but takes two to make things easier. If you go over the hour you just pay extra afterwards. Plenty parking spots around and you can hand in your car keys/wallets/stuff at the cashier for safe keeping. Won't get too wet/cold but wearing something that dries fast certainly helps. There are lots of catamarans so don't think booking will be necessary.

    • Jon

And for those who can't swim, don't worry, there be life jackets and the operator will rescue any one with a stranded/off course catamaran with a motorboat. perfectly safe, apart from the risk of sun burn.
