Workshop! Intro to Python with APIs

A PyLady that is itching to learn Python? Scratch that itch with PyLadiesSF!

This is a two-day workshop for women - Friday evening is installation/machine setup, and Saturday is the full workshop. I will be teaching off of my material - newcoder.io - on how to interact with APIs with Python.

This workshop is very introductory to Python, so a little knowledge about Python's syntax & data structures is beneficial (e.g. went through at least half of Learn Python the Hard Way).

Don't know what an API is? Don't worry - You'll know what it is by the end of the workshop!

Goals of this workshop:

• Interacting with a public API

• Warm introduction to REST by requesting information from an API

• Command line arguments with Python

• File Input/Output

• Stretch goal: graph generation with matplotlib

What else you will be exposed to:

• Logging

• Use Python’s built-in argparse library

• Validating data
