SF Edition: PyLadies @ Coursera- Interactive Programming with Python

  • November 13, 2012 · 6:30 PM

Due to popular demand, there will be an SF edition at Twitter.  We will meet at the same time so we can do a Google Hangout with the folks in Mountain View.

SECURITY NOTE: Twitter needs your full name in order to check in. If you don't have your full name on Meetup.com, message Stacy Jones (event host) or me via Meetup. This will happen every week by Monday at 12pm.

Coursera invites PyLadies to join them in learning Python through their free, online, Introduction to Interactive Programming with Python course taught by Rice University.

Note: This meetup is for women and those that identify as being a woman. Emphatically trans- and queer-friendly.

About the course: Rice is offering a free, 8-week introductive to interactive programming with Python online at Coursera.org, launching on October 15th.  You can read more about the course and sign up for it here: https://www.coursera.org/course/interactivepython

About the meetup: We will meet each Tuesday for 8 weeks, starting October 16th through December 4th, while the course is ongoing to watch videos, discuss what we learnt, work on the quizzes, and brainstorm the assignments with the help of Coursera staff. (Oh, and we'll eat free food, as well!)

The course is designed for people with no programming background, so the course along with these study groups should be the perfect combo for those of you who have been looking to learn Python but haven't had the time in your schedule.

A huge thank you to Coursera for hosting and providing dinner for PyLadies!

Parking note: there is outdoor parking available in the Coursera parking lot.
