Rice University is offering their free online course "An Introduction to Interactive Programming in Python", which starts tomorrow 9/15/2014 on coursera.org.

We are going to attempt a set of cohort meetups to work through this course together for those who want to attempt it. We expect it to be fast paced like many Coursera courses are. Course description claims 7-10 hours/week for 9 weeks (Week 0 through Week 8).

If you want to move through this free online course as part of our Cohort, do the following:

  1. Enroll in the course! Use the link above, enroll in the free course. Week 0 is 9/15-9/21, has about 72 minutes of videos, and only 1 quiz with a deadline of 9/24. There is an optional project as well. The main goal of Week 0 is to get setup and comfortable with the CodeSkulptor tool. So we have it pretty easy for this initial week.

  2. Come to our first study group session Thursday, 9/18/2014, 6:30-8:00 pm, at Seward Community Coop (in the cafe).

  3. If you can't make this study group meetup, at least keep up with the course through Week 0 which ends 9/21/14.

  4. We will schedule another study group meetup for Week 1 of the course.

  5. Please post in the meeting comments what you think of this day/time for continued study session.
