Your Favorite Color - Weekly Assignment (1/29-2/11)

  • Jan 29, 2014 · 7:00 AM

YOUR FAVORITE COLOR -- Weekly Assignment - all of your photos need to be of the same color (not the same subject though)

Weekly Assignments are to challenge you to be more creative - to look at the world a little differently and perhaps shoot something you usually don't shoot.  Please do not use archived images.  The Weekly Assignments are to get you out and taking photos.  If you take your assignments a few days early or post them a few days late - no worries - its' all about taking photos and working around your life schedule.  Please upload your 3 BEST IMAGES and comment on 2-3 others for every image you upload.

Your Favorite Color is all about watching , looking, seeing - whatever color you choose - start looking for it and start shooting.  All of your images should be of the same color but not the same subject.  You have almost 2 weeks to find your subjects.

Some hints - keep a camera with you at all times so you don't miss the shot - even a cell phone camera will work.  If you are walking down the street and you see a mother and child holding hands and they are both wearing red mittens and your color is red .... you get my point!  You don't want to miss the shot!

Think about what your subject is - isolate it - figure out your subject, think about composition and try it several different ways.  Again, what is your subject and how can you make it stand out?  What don't you need in the image?  What can you eliminate in the image and still have your subject stand out.  Is your subject the red mittens or the 2 people walking?  You have to decide what the story is that you want to tell but think about it.  There is no right answer here - it's art... it's your vision - it's what excited you but you can make an image a stronger image by using some compositional elements, light etc.

So, choose your color and start looking for it ... you will be amazed at how many times you see it -
