Inside Hadley Wickham's Head

For our December meetup, and to close out R-Users-DC's 2012 season, we are thrilled to have Hadley Wickham (http://had.co.nz/) in town for our December meetup to talk about "Data Analysis: best practices and future directions".

Abstract:

What are are best practices and what will data analysis look like in 10 years time? I'll start by discussing what I think are current best practices for data analysis (combining ideas from good science and software development), then look at how things might change in the near and not-so-near future. I'll highlight today's projects that I think are really exciting (Rstudio, D3, amazon's EC2), and do a little blue-sky speculation about what's on the horizon. I'll discuss the new field of "data science" and give some hints about what technologies you should be learning next

Bio:

Hadley Wickham is one of the most known names in the R community. He's developed over 30 R packages to facilitate data munging, analysis and visualization, including ggplot2, plyr, reshape2, and lubridate among others. He's also Assistant Professor of Statistics at Rice University and Chief Scientist at RStudio (http://www.rstudio.org).
