Nature/Nurture: How much of our health is genetic, how much environmental? The answers may surprise you.

Athena Ramos from UNMC's Center for Reducing Health Disparities will give us a slide show on this subject, using data on Omaha's population.

"The extremes in America’s health system are striking. In some communities people live longer, healthier lives than the residents of Europe’s wealthiest nations. In Amer–ica’s least-healthy regions, premature death and disease are as common as in parts of Asia and Latin America." from article in Sunday's World Herald from the Tribune Washington Bureau.

The regular Saturday meetings have a varied format. There are occasional speakers or videos, followed by discussion. Some meetings are totally discussion of topics of current interest and some are activities. Facilitators of the meeting change each month. The group often adjourns across the street to Jazz for dinner, beverages, and less formal conversation.
