Monthly Romp--Henry Coe State Park
Details
Hello Riders,
This month we'll ride from Hunting Hollow via the new Jim Donnelly singletrack trail. This is an easy way to get to the ridge for backcountry riding. We'll have a beginner ride leader, intermediate leaders, and depending on the group, we can also do a more advanced ride.
Please RSVP so we have an estimate of group size. (If you'd rather not use meetup, email lkg_456@yahoo.com to RSVP. thanks!)
The Nitty Gritty--read me!
Meet at 9:15, be ready to ride at 9:30. This is a social ride and some single track skills are required. We'll split into groups, regroup as needed within each group, and ride at a casual pace for about 2.5 hours.
Coe is known for its challenging terrain, but we really are going to have a gentle ride in addition to harder rides! There's a rolly/flat section right out of the parking lot with a couple creek crossings, fun for beginners and kids, and a nicely-graded climb to a viewpoint, for about 1100' of climbing over 8 miles. Our gentle group might get back a little earlier than the faster riders, but that's ok - our goal is a safe, fun ride for all.
We all ride with helmets--don't forget yours.
Rain will cancel. Check this listing the morning of the ride. We will post a weather update by 7 AM if we need to cancel.
A Release of Liability Waiver will require your signature.
Henry Coe is a remote and beautiful park. There is no cell phone reception and it can be hot. Bring lots of water, enough food, and a bike that works. Please stay with the ride leaders--you do not want to get lost.
We'll be serving food and beverages after the ride!
Meet at Hunting Hollow entrance, see map below. (Note: some signs say 152W rather than Leavesley Road - that's our exit.)

This ride is being cross-listed by our friends at Mere Mortals and the San Jose Mountain Biking Meetup - thanks!
Henry will be camping at nearby Gilroy Hot Springs. If interested, you can make a reservation at http://friendsofgilroyhotsprings.org/GYHS_events.htm . It's an awesome place to camp, near the Coyote Creek trailhead.
