Hi Nate,
Thanks for advertising my one shot a little bit.? I was actually ask if you were going to do something like that...? Maybe for next Monday I can give you some text to 'sell' it.? I also have a one shot scheduled for next Tuesday, that may or may not go off due to attendance, maybe that can get a little bump next Monday as well.
Also, is there anyway I can get those events on the facebook group or shall I just start discussions instead.?

Hi folks,

The group is now one month old, and what a good month its been. This message is intended to help keep you up to date on what's coming up and other notable items that you might have missed. Please visit the message boards and calendar to comment and RSVP.

3. A night with Steve Townshend

Google Map

I've set up a Google Map to help us locate each other and for me to plan events in your areas.

Sent a message out regarding formatting your entry, but forgot to include instructions on adding yourself to the map. It's pretty simple once you know how, but not user intuitive at the start.

1. Open the RPGChicago map
2. Search for your address in the box above the map
3. Click the link for your address in the left bar
4. On the right, click the "Save to My Maps" link in the balloon over your address
5. You can now "Edit" the entry to include your personal info.

20-sided Women

Our own D20 Sapphire is looking for commentary on women that play RPGs. If you have some observations to offer, please visit her blog here.

An evening with Steve Townshend, 9/17

Our first industry talk and one I've been looking forward to putting on the calendar.

Steve Townshend will be talking with us about his experiences writing for Wizards of the Coast. A chance for you to ask some of your burning questions about how you might be able to get your work noticed!

His upcoming (2010) design credits include: Monster Manual 3, Demonomicon, and Dungeon Masters Guide 3, and further contributions to Dragon Magazine.

Steve Townshend was a professional actor for many years before he switched to writing. He started playing D&D in 1982 and began DMing in earnest in 1991. Steve enjoys running character and story-oriented games with strong narrative arcs. His work has appeared in Polyhedron, Dragon Magazine, and the Wizards of the Coast web site.

Our first GM Clinic

Patrick Benson, one of the writers for, has agreed to come run our first GM Clinic. I am meeting with him tomorrow to discuss the group. If you have a particular topic you'd like to hear him discuss, I have a post in the "Suggestion Box" of the message boards for you to ask for a particular topic or theme to discuss.

Learn to Play events

The Berwyn group has been running learn to play events. If you are new to RPGs or perhaps have a friend you'd like to introduce to RPGs in a new player friendly environment, consider attending. You can RSVP for it on the calendar. Look for other learn to play events for other RPG systems in the future.

One shots

Josh K is running some one shot events at a bar in Bucktown. There is room for more players as well as more GMs if people are interested.

Local conventions

We have a lot of local conventions coming up! The Berwyn gamers are running a mini-con on the 26th, and then there is LutherCon on the following weekend (first weekend in October. Posted soon, kids OK). Full days of gaming with lots of options and people to play with. Check em out!

Thanks for being a member!
